Saul Bass Graphic designer

Saul Bass (May 8 1920 - April 25 1996) was an American graphic designer and Academy Award winning filmmaker, best known for his design of motion picture title sequence, film posters, and corporate logos.
Saul studied part-time at the Art Students League in Manhattan until attending night classes with Gyorgy Kepes (Painter and Art Theorist) at Brooklyn College.
During his 40-year career Saul worked for some of hollywood's most prominent filmmakers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Billy Wilder Otto Preminger and Stanley Kubrick.

(Evaluation of Saul bass's work below)

These are Saul Bass artwork though the top is his signature.
Saul's artwork has a movie genre to them for what I can see. The use of imagery reflects the chaotic theme as the hand drawn then scanned abstract like images give a low horror feel. Though they are affective as they bring attention to them selfs and are the first thing you see of the pieces then the title. They manage to catch your attention for good or bad and make you actually read about the piece. The large, bold front that i think to be of computer suits the imagery well in theme. The imperfect lettering and shapes are good techniques for horror to show the chaos in the pieces created by what seems to be illustrator. Saul uses a limited colour palette as well as sticking to basic shapes, the colours he has used aren't 'mute' but 'bold' matching the themes of the movies. I personally am not really fond of Mr Saul Brass style as most of them look like childish horror although the colours do work well & I do like the four classic monsters piece.
Some images are of effective simple detail like the four classic monster piece, nice toning and effective colours that bring a little emotion to them bring success to the work. While others like the golden arm are basic lines and shape, though it was his most famous title sequence to me it's just a bit lacking in emotion and dull to me but everyone has their own opinions. The attention it may hold would only last a few minutes if one didn't know who created it as to say for the four classic monster piece that would linger in your mind about their movies and them their selfs.
I believe Saul is talented as some artwork is successful but some are just lacking emotion to bring itself up, to much is confusing but to little leaves negative space leaving behind holes in attention.
